As Seen at the Abilities Expo Los Angeles: Created by former flight attendant Robin Wearley, the Adapts transfer sling is designed to facilitate quicker evacuations of people with mobility-related conditions when a transfer wheelchair isn’t readily available (such as during an emergency airplane evacuation). The sling fits over airplane seats of various sizes and is water and flame resistant. After the sling is fitted over the airplane seat, the passenger sits on top of it. If an evacuation is needed, attendants (from two to six of them) can lift and carry the passenger out of the aircraft without requiring a wheelchair. When not in use, the sling folds into a compact tote for easy storage. The sling can be hand-washed in soapy water and air dried. The manufacturer says the sling has been tested to 250 lbs.
