Just in time for the start of the 2006 holiday season, the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) received a $1 million donation from the Harley-Davidson Foundation.
The donation will fund the DAV Mobile Service Office, created to provide convenient benefits-related counseling to veterans and their families across the country. Without such mobile offices, some veterans have to travel for hours to reach a Veterans Administration (VA) office, said a Harley-Davidson representative. The mobile offices meet with disabled veterans and their families in their communities to help discuss, prepare and process benefits claims.
Gail Lione, president of the Harley-Davidson Foundation, described veterans as “important members of the Harley-Davidson family” and added, “The DAV Mobile Service Office program will provide even more access to the benefits they are entitled to receive. We are honored to show support and appreciation to the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much to protect our freedom.”
