Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare will combine its three complex rehab technology companies into a single company to be known as Inspired by Drive.
In an Oct. 25 news announcement, the manufacturer said the new company would officially launch in January, and will comprise Columbia Medical, Specialized Orthotic Services, and Wenzelite Re/hab.
The new entity’s initial focus will include pediatric alternative positioning; bathing and toileting; and mobility. Those three segments are current specialties for Columbia Medical, Specialized Orthotic Services and Wenzelite.
Inspired by Drive will be headquartered in Santa Fe Springs, Calif., where Columbia Medical is currently located.
“Inspired by Drive’s purpose was fueled by a desire to provide special needs children and their families with products that offer the highest clinical value with a visual appearance that disguises the medical nature of the product,” said Doug Francis, Drive DeVilbiss principal and co-founder.
Matt Lawrence, VP/GM of Drive DeVilbiss’s rehab division, said of the new company, “Our goal is to create and bring to market products that are representative of how inspired we are by the grace, love and determination that children with special needs, along with their family members, demonstrate in overcoming the challenges they are faced with in daily living.”
In its announcement, Drive DeVilbiss said Inspired by Drive aims to expand product offerings to additional complex rehab categories.
