Etac Announces Acquisition of Ki Mobility

October 6, 2021 by Laurie Watanabe

Etac has acquired Ki Mobility, the manual wheelchair and seating manufacturer that just days ago announced it had acquired Adaptive Engineering Lab (AEL).

In an Oct. 6 news announcement, Etac said the acquisition “makes it possible for Etac to provide a significantly broader product offering to individuals, families, and therapists in need of complex manual rehab wheelchairs, seating and pediatric assistive devices.”

A second announcement signed by Etac CEO Michael Wirzberger and Ki Mobility President Doug Munsey added that for the immediate future, “It is business as usual, so please continue to place orders, interact with sales personnel, and communicate with our organization in the same manner as you always have.”

Munsey, who founded Ki Mobility with Murray Slagerman in 2005, will now head “a dedicated mobility organization for sales and customer service of our Ki Mobility, Convaid, R82, and Star products in North America.”

Wirzberger said, “Our vision is to become a global leader within complex manual rehab technology and patient handling, and the acquisition of Ki Mobility is an important step in that direction.”

“We are very pleased to be joining the Etac family,” Munsey said. “We have a common passion for creating possibilities for individuals in need of Complex Rehab Technology, and I look forward to continuing the development of Ki Mobility products within Etac and to combine and leverage our strengths in Etac’s new North American mobility organization.”
