Etac Launches Convaid Coaster
Seating teams can choose from three fixed tilt and four fixed recline options.

February 21, 2024 by Laurie Watanabe

Convaid Coaster manual dependent wheelchair with purple upholstery.Etac has launched the Convaid Coaster, described in a Feb. 15 announcement as “perfect for adventurous families on the move” and “combining style, support, and comfort in one compact package.”

The Coaster offers adjustable fixed tilt and recline so the seating team can choose the configuration best for children and families.

Clinicians can select from 10, 20, or 30 degrees of fixed tilt. The Coaster also offers 80 to 115 degrees of recline, in four fixed settings. Positioning can be further fine tuned via Convaid’s height and tension-adjustable back positioner, positioning wedges, and a height-adjustable upper-extremity support tray, among other accessories. Convaid Cruiser and EZRider accessories are compatible with the new Coaster.

The Coaster is available in 12-inch, 14-inch, 16-inch, and 18-inch seat widths, and each size offers 5 inches of seat depth growth. The Coaster has a user weight capacity of up to 170 lbs. for 16-inch and 18-inch seat widths.

To make family adventures convenient and comfortable for both kids and caregivers, the compact, lightweight Coaster folds via a two-step clamshell design. That configuration enables the Coaster to be folded in one motion. Standard side pockets provide easy-to-reach storage space.

“The width of the frame can be reduced by removing the quick-release wheels, making it even more convenient for transportation,” Etac noted. A WC19 transit frame option is available for the Coaster, as is an all-terrain Coaster Scout frame option with a hand-operated brake for additional safety and control.
