In a June 26 news announcement, Etac said the Caribou is designed to help children “build strength, improve their posture, and participate in activities with their peers.”

The stander tilts from vertical to horizontal, a position that facilitates transfers into the Caribou, which “is designed with a raised frame for easy use of floor hoist,” the announcement said. It added that the Caribou, which is capable of supporting children in prone and supine positions, features an “anatomic design and soft PU [polyurethane] material for optimum comfort. The shape can be molded to the body using additional wedges to shape the PU.”

The Caribou’s tilt function is foot operated to leave the caregiver’s hands free. A power tilt option can be used for larger users and can be operated by the user.

The stander is available in four sizes and can accommodate children ranging in height from 33.46 inches/850 mm to 72.44 inches/1840 mm. Maximum weight capacity is 220.46 lbs./100 kg.

Accessories include formed footplates, heel supports, trays, knee supports, pommels, back supports, head supports, and cushions and covers.
