Mobility Management spoke with Conor Sullivan, Harmar Access’s marketing director, about the manufacturer’s new Pinnacle stairlift and how it helps users move up and down staircases.
Q: What target customer will benefit most from this product?
A: This chair helps address the need of a growing segment of the homecare market: Baby boomers, who might not necessarily have severe mobility limitations, but have difficulty safely or easily climbing stairs.
Q: Briefly describe this product’s main features and benefits. How is the Pinnacle different from its competitors or its previous versions?
A: When folded, the Pinnacle is only 11″ wide. It also runs on our patented helical worm drive, which provides a gentle and quiet ride. It also requires no lubrication, as it is a self-lubricated system, thereby making it easier to keep clean and maintained.
Q: How have you made the Pinnacle “provider friendly”?
A: Along with being virtually maintenance free, it is easy to install. The chair is designed to be non-handed, so the provider can install the same chair on either side of the staircase. The chair also arrives on the rail, so the provider doesn’t have to touch the chassis during installation. The Pinnacle comes standard at 16′, but is available in lengths of up to 70′.
Q: What have reactions been to the Pinnacle?
A: Providers have been very pleased with the quality and all-around ease of use. We’ve received several letters from providers praising the thin design and quiet operation, and they especially loved how easy it is to install.
Q: What problem will the Pinnacle solve for providers?
A: Since the Pinnacle is non-handed, providers will only have to carry one product on their shelves, no matter what side of the staircase it needs to be installed on. Also, since the Pinnacle is self-lubricating, it is easy to keep clean and essentially maintenance free, which is always a huge plus.
