The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is seeking comments from stakeholders about a proposed rule that postpones implementation of ICD-10 for a year – from Oct. 1, 2013, till Oct. 1, 2014.
The proposed rule was published April 17 in the Federal Register.
HHS is accepting comments till 5 p.m. Eastern time on May 17.
In explaining the proposed delay, HHS said in a statement that it believed the postponement “will give providers and other covered entities more time to prepare and fully test their systems to ensure a smooth and coordinated transition among all industry segments.”
