The International Registry of Rehabilitation Technology Suppliers (iNRRTS) has launched a Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) industry technician survey “to gather feedback about the quality and quantity of CRT service technicians.”
The survey is aimed at “CRT suppliers,” defined as “the person who provides highly specialized seating and mobility equipment and services tailored for individuals with complex medical needs and disabilities.” Service technicians are defined by the survey as “the person who maintains and repairs complex rehab equipment. This includes power wheelchairs, manual wheelchairs, adaptive seating systems, and other specialized devices designed for individuals with significant disabilities or medical conditions.”
Responses, iNRRTS added, will be kept confidential, and survey respondents may choose to remain anonymous, though the organization asks for respondents’ names and email addresses so iNRRTS can ask about survey answers.
The survey asks basic identification questions such as how long the company has worked in the CRT space and how many branch offices the company currently has.
Then the survey asks if current availability of CRT service technicians in the respondent’s region is very sufficient, sufficient, neutral, insufficient or very insufficient.
Respondents are asked how many CRT suppliers work in their branch office; how many CRT service technicians work in that branch office; if the company has had difficulty hiring service technicians in the last year; and if so, what those difficulties were, such as a lack of qualified candidates or insufficient training programs.
The survey also asks which skills are most important for service technicians to possess, such as technical expertise in CRT devices, problem-solving skills, experience with different CRT brands/models, and certification or specialized training.
Survey participants can also add comments about other concerns or ideas they have related to the service technician topic.
The survey will close later this month.
