Invacare Corp. is sponsoring the National Veterans Golden Age Games in Omaha, Neb., Aug. 8 through Aug. 12.
In a news announcement, Invacare described the Golden Age Games as the premier senior adaptive rehabilitation program in the United States “and the only national multi-event sports and recreational seniors’ competition program designed to improve the quality of life for all older veterans.”
Veterans aged 55 years and older who receive healthcare services through the Veterans Affairs system are eligible to participate in the Golden Age Games. Events to be contested at this year’s Games include air rifle shooting, bowling, cycling, dominoes, golf, horseshoes, nine-ball, racquetball, shuffleboard, swimming, table tennis and track & field. Exhibitions will be given in several other sports, including 3-on-3 basketball, boccia and blind disc golf.
Athletes compete in divisions based on age and disabilities, if applicable.
