Invacare Creates Consumer Power Rental Program

August 16, 2010 by Laurie Watanabe

In response to Medicare’s elimination of the first-month purchase option for standard power chairs, Invacare Corp. has announced a new program called Consumer Power Rental, aka, CPR.

A news release on the program called it “a five-step approach to success in the rental market.”

Carl Will, senior VP of Invacare Homecare, says, “Reimbursement changes are forcing providers to restructure their approach to consumer power. The CPR program gives providers the tools they need to finance and service their consumer power fleet in a way that will enhance their business operations.”

According to the news announcement, the CPR program has five components:

  • Financing – CPR terms coincide “exactly with reimbursement payments.”
  • 5 Star/RoadRunner – The service program will have multiple options “available to cover everything from warranty repairs during the rental period to complete power wheelchair refurbishing.”
  • Warranty – “Invacare will extend the warranty to 13 months, covering the entire rental period for motors and electronics for consumer power wheelchairs.”
  • Product Enhancements – “The Invacare Pronto M41 wheelchair is a proven, economical product that is ideal for the rental environment.”
  • Parts – “Invacare has a complete line of parts and accessories to refurbish chairs that do not reach the cap and for those that do.”
