Invacare Corp. has launched the AVIVA Storm RX, the manufacturer’s latest rear-wheel-drive power wheelchair.
A flared front end on the AVIVA Storm RX accommodates a center-mount foot platform and reduces the power chair’s overall turning radius, Invacare said in a news announcement of the launch. The design also enables AVIVA Storm RX users to pull up closer to objects in the environment and also facilitates stand-pivot transfers.
For suppliers and technicians, a “unique open stack design” offers easy access to the tires, wheels and hubs, gearboxes and motors. Electronics are located at the rear of the power chair so wiring and connections are easy to see and reach once the rear cover is removed.
Joost Beltman, Senior VP and GM of Invacare North America, said in the Aug. 2 announcement, “We are excited to introduce the next generation of Invacare power mobility products with the AVIVA STORM RX, an innovative leap forward in rear-wheel drive power wheelchairs. The AVIVA brand has a unique identity that conveys a promise of superior technology, design and performance. This launch represents yet another step forward for our end-users while further differentiating Invacare’s product portfolio.”
Invacare’s SureGrip suspension system provides smooth, silent driving indoors and outdoors, while a rear anti-tipper with a shock absorber responds to vibrations and noise for a better ride experience. Users can choose a standard 5.8-mph or high-performance 7.5-mph motor package.
