Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, you have more time to submit your papers for the 2021 International Seating Symposium (ISS).
The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology Continuing Education (RSTCE) is hosting the next ISS in Pittsburgh in March. The conference’s theme is “Showing Our Value.”
In a late June news announcement, the RSTCE said it was extending the call-for-papers deadline until Sun., July 19.
“This extension is in response to individuals who are unsure of whether to submit because they may be unable to present in person due to travel restrictions,” the RSTCE said in its announcement. “Presenters are encouraged to submit despite uncertainty of travel in the coming months. Alternate methods to present will be available if the abstract is accepted and presenters are unable to attend in person. Further information on this process will be distributed in the coming months.”
The ISS team is looking for one-hour conference presentations, 15-minute paper sessions, four-hour and eight-hour preconference workshops, and poster presentations.
Paper proposals, the RSTCE added, will be scored for innovation, i.e., new topics that haven’t been previously presented. Scores will also be given for the proposals evidence-based content and for promoting the value of products and services.
The RSTCE’s proposed topics include pediatric and adult seating and mobility; manual and power wheelchairs; information communication technology, such as smart apps or home automation; service delivery and operations management; funding and policy; transportation; and home modifications.
Prospective presenters can submit up to one proposal for each type of presentation.
