ISS 2023 Calls for Abstracts

June 29, 2022 by Laurie Watanabe

The University of Pittsburgh RSTCE is calling for abstracts for next year’s International Seating Symposium (ISS), scheduled for April 13-15 in Pittsburgh.

In a June 29 e-mail, the University of Pittsburgh announced an August 15, 2022, deadline for abstracts and said it is seeking content for one-hour conference presentations; 15-minute paper sessions; poster presentations; four-hour pre-conference workshops; and eight-hour pre-conference workshops.

Submissions need to be sent in by the presenter, and presenters are asked to submit no more than one abstract per session type.

The ISS team suggested course topics relevant to the following or “other relevant AT [assistive technology] areas”: funding and policy; home modifications; information technology (smart apps, home automation; manual seating and mobility; power seating and mobility; research findings; service delivery and operations management; and transportation.

“To maintain the high quality of presentations at the Symposium, to encourage innovative discussion, and to promote advancement of the field, proposals will be evaluated based on innovation (new topics that have not been presented at prior/other conferences); evidence-based practice; quality of references, written abstract and learning objectives,” the announcement noted.

The ISS 2023 team is currently accepting exhibitor booth reservations. Attendee registration opens Sept. 12.

The Symposium will be held in person at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center next spring.
