The University of Pittsburgh has announced the schedule for the 2025 International Seating Symposium (ISS) and has opened registration for exhibitors.
In a May 14 bulletin, Mark R. Schmeler, Ph.D., OTR/L, ATP, and Rachel M. Hibbs, DPT, ATP, NCS, said expo hall registration had begun “to exhibit at the world’s largest academic conference on wheelchair seating, mobility and associated assistive technologies.”
They added that the call for abstracts and the opening of attendee registration would be starting soon.
The ISS is scheduled for March 18-22 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. Pre-conference workshops will be held March 18-19, while the exhibit hall will be open and educational sessions will take place March 19-21. Wednesday evening, March 19, will include Consumer Day, when seating and wheeled mobility clients, their families and caregivers are invited to tour the expo hall.
The 2025 ISS — the 39th time the conference will be held — will include “a sleek, revised schedule with more unopposed exhibit hall time and fewer interruptions,” the ISS website stated.
Attendees will also be able to participate in the new Hands-On Zone, “where exhibitors can demo equipment on various terrain and in simulated environments.”
And the new +P&O track will feature educational sessions focused on prosthetics and orthotics, plus prosthetics and orthotics exhibitors.
Sessions at the ISS qualify for continuing education units (CEUs) approved by a number of organizations for occupational therapy practitioners, physical therapy practitioners, and Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs). See the ISS 2025 website for more information.
