The University of Pittsburgh’s International Seating Symposium (ISS) team has opened registration for its 2026 Virtual Professional Summit (VPS), a two-day program in February and March.
The ISS:VPS “will feature presentations by rising stars and industry veterans alike, sharing their expertise in seating and mobility,” the University of Pittsburgh Rehabilitation Science and Technology Continuing Education (RSTCE) said in a Nov. 13 announcement.
The virtual event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern on Wednesday, Jan. 28, and Wednesday, Feb. 25, with continuing education units available both days.
Attendees will receive access to all content on both days and on-demand access to ISS:VPS recordings of the sessions.
The first conference day (Jan. 28) kicks off at 10 a.m. Eastern with a panel on wheelchair skills, moderated by Lynn Worobey, Ph.D. That’s followed by a 12 noon Eastern panel, “Turning the Tables: Learning from Those with the Lived Experience,” moderated by Jean Minkel, PT, ATP.
The day closes with The State of the Science Supporting Pediatric Powered Mobility Intervention: Frameworks, Evidence and Future Directions, presented by Heather Feldner, PT, Ph.D., and Lisa Kenyon, DPT, Ph.D., PCS.
On Feb. 25, Michelle Lange, OTR/L, ATP/SMS, starts the conference at 10 a.m. Eastern with the presentation Maintaining Posture by Providing Movement. The 12 noon Eastern panel —Innovations in Assistive Technology for Accessible Transportation: Bridging Gaps in Mobility and Independence — features presenters Heather L. Ansley, JD; Bradley Duerstock, Ph.D.; Clive D’Souza, Ph.D.; MS, Jonathan Duvall, Ph.D.; and Sivashankar Sivakanthan, Ph.D.; with Laurie Watanabe as moderator.
Understanding Spinal Cord Injury: A Free Resource to Enhance Training of Personal Care Assistants, presented by Jeanne M. Zanca, MPT, Ph.D., FACRM, begins at 2 p.m. Eastern. The final presentation of the day, beginning at 4 p.m. Eastern, is Innovation in Access: Building a Future of Independence for Individuals with Disabilities, featuring James Gardner, OTR/L, ATP.
Both conference days will also feature 30-minute Supporter Spotlights for premier partner sponsors to launch or demonstrate products. Additional sessions are to be announced.
The RSTCE team also noted that the 40th International Seating Symposium will be an in-person event at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh, March 30-April 2, 2027.
