Medicare’s DME MACs have announced changes to a policy article involving HCPCS codes E1020 and E1028.
E1020 is the code for “Residual limb support systems for wheelchairs.” E1028 is the code for “Wheelchair accessory, manual swingaway, retractable or removable mounting hardware for joystick, other control interface or positioning accessory.”
The revision, which went into effect Nov. 1, “added E1020/E1028 clarification and addition to bundling table,” according to an announcement from NHIC Corp., the Jurisdiction A DME MAC.
The codes are included in an allowance table that says, “A Column II code is included in the allowance for the corresponding Column I code when provided at the same time.” The E1020 code is in column I, with the E1028 code shown in column II.
