MK Battery Program Donates Funds to Support Industry Organizations

June 29, 2010 by Laurie Watanabe

Through Oct. 31, for every one of its gel batteries purchased by HME providers in the United States, MK Battery is making a donation to support industry organizations.

The donation of $1 per gel battery sold will benefit the American Association for Homecare, the National Coalition for Assistive & Rehab Technology (NCART) and the National Registry of Rehab Technology Suppliers (NRRTS).

Says HME Category Manager Dennis Sharpe, “Our management team is keenly aware of the legislative, regulatory and reimbursement issues plaguing our industry and have thus made the decision to further support the national trade and professional organizations that are advocating on behalf of the healthcare community.” Sharpe says the program’s goal is to donate “at least $50,000 for the period, but of course that will depend upon how many gel batteries the providers purchase from MK during the campaign.”

The purpose of the company’s Power for Funding program, Sharpe says, is “to provide a financial boost to those national advocacy groups that are working tirelessly to navigate the industry through the current healthcare crisis.”
