MM: Tell us more about the Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature, including a few top features and benefits.

Maquet: The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature is an ultra-compact Group 3 power wheelchair designed for users who need exceptional maneuverability without compromising stability, comfort, or clinical effectiveness. At just 21 inches wide — 2.375 inches narrower than a standard Alltrack M3 — it offers smooth access through tight hallways, doorways, and compact living environments.

With Signature Tailored Power Positioning Solutions, it delivers next-generation adjustability, postural support, durability and long-term comfort. The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature supports seating as small as 11” x 11” and, despite its smaller footprint, sizes up to 22″ × 22″ and also features seat-to-floor heights as low as 15.5”.

Key highlights include:

  • 21″ base width
  • 20″ turning radius
  • Full Alltrack mid-wheel drive performance
  • Patented Dual-Action Suspension
  • Signature Power Positioning with up to 50° power tilt, 165° power recline and advanced adjustability
  • Available with Alta 11” Power Seat Elevation and ability to drive while elevated
  • Supports a wide range of custom seating and positioning configurations
  • Available R-net electronics interface with most available current specialty drive controls
  • Designed and assembled in North America

MM: In designing this product, what were the top goals of the design team and engineers? What did they most seek to achieve?

Maquet: Our design team and engineers sought to achieve:

  1. True maneuverability in restricted spaces. Achieve a 21″ base width without losing driving performance, durability or modularity
  2. Maintain Alltrack stability and ride quality. The narrow footprint still needed to support outdoor use and full suspension performance
  3. Integrate Signature power positioning system. Ensuring the compact base worked seamlessly with Signature’s advanced adjustability and clinical features

MM: Who and/or what were the inspirations for your winning product’s functionality, features and design elements?

Maquet: The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature was inspired by the real-world challenges users and clinicians face when navigating tight corners, narrow doorways, and compact living environments. Many people live, work, or study in spaces that were never designed with power mobility in mind, and they need a power chair that can move confidently where standard power wheelchair bases struggle while also maintaining outdoor performance.

It was also driven by feedback from:

  • Everyone deserves a power chair that fits their daily environments. Pediatric and smaller adult users especially benefit from a compact design that maintains full performance and capability — not simply a full-size chair with a narrower seat. Clinicians seeking a solution that provides long-term flexibility and true maneuverability without compromising seating, stability, or outdoor capability
  • Technicians requesting greater durability and an intuitive design that is easier to adjust and modify. Being more service friendly directly shaped Signature’s design.

The result is a compact platform that feels natural in everyday spaces while carrying all the power, durability, and clinical effectiveness expected from the Alltrack series.

MM: Who benefits from your product? Can you offer a “typical” client profile, including diagnosis/presentation, indications/contraindications?

Maquet: The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature benefits anyone needing high-performance Group 3 mobility in spaces where standard-width chairs are limiting. Typical users include:

  • Individuals with SCI, CP, MD, MS, ALS, and complex neuromuscular diagnoses
  • Adults and children who require mid-wheel drive maneuverability
  • Users who need Power Positioning Solutions AND access to tight indoor environments

Contraindications include:

  • Users exceeding the 300 lbs. capacity
  • Seating needs exceeding 22″ × 22″

MM: Does your winning product offer adjustability or customizability for the different needs of different clients?

Maquet: The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature is a truly modular design, featuring extensive adjustability and the ability to customize through the Signature system:

  • Multi-axis, pivoting cantilever armrests
  • Endomorph back canes compatible with aftermarket backs
  • Slotted adjustments for faster setup and service
  • Power recline to 165° with improved durability and cable routing
  • Multiple frame, seating, and electronics configurations
  • Ability to add and change power positioning modules as users’ needs change
  • Modular, expandable electronics can adapt as driving and access capabilities evolve
  • Signature is built to adapt to the user’s needs over time

MM: How does your winning product optimize independence, function, safety, confidence, success with everyday goals, etc., for its consumers?

Maquet: The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature enhances independence by combining:

  • Ultra-compact access (21″ width + 20″ turning radius)
  • Alltrack’s patented Dual-Action Suspension for safer, more stable outdoor performance
  • Signature Tailored Power Positioning Solutions to optimize posture, energy management, pressure reduction, and functional reach
  • Available seat-to-floor height as low as 15.5” for safer transfers and better access to everyday surfaces
  • Users can navigate more environments, rely less on caregivers, and maintain energy for daily activities

MM: What funding options are available for this product?

Maquet: The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature is code verified as a Group 3 power wheelchair and uses standard Group 3 HCPCS codes (K0848/K0856/K0861), in addition to associated HCPCS codes for Signature Power Positioning modules and accessories.

MM: What makes a product or service a Mobility Management Product Award winner? What advice do you have for future entrants?

Maquet: A Mobility Management Product Award winner provides solutions for real world clinical and functional challenges, not just technical ones.

The Alltrack M3 (Narrow N2221) Signature succeeds because it:

  • Opens previously inaccessible or difficult to navigate environments
  • Provides true “full-size” clinical and functional effectiveness in a compact format
  • Combines maneuverability, stability, durability and advanced power positioning
  • Reflects deep user- and clinician-driven design

Advice: Listen to everyone; users, clinicians, ATPs, caregivers and other stakeholders and design with purpose. Build with their needs in mind, not simply to satisfy a code requirement or price point. Innovation only matters when it meaningfully improves lives.
