Motion Acquires B.C. Provider

May 5, 2021 by Laurie Watanabe

Motion (formerly known as Motion Specialties) has acquired A-1 Wheelchairs Unlimited, a provider located in Langley, British Columbia.

In a May 4 news announcement, Motion described A-1 Wheelchairs Unlimited as “a family-owned and operated business that was established by the Derkoch family in 1985 – the same year that Motion was founded. A-1 provides products and services to Langley and its surrounding communities – from Vancouver to Hope and everywhere in between.”

Thecla Sweeney, Motion’s CEO and Executive Chair, said in the announcement, “The Motion Langley team will work closely with our established Motion Vancouver team to best support our clients with their ongoing and growing need for quality mobility and accessibility products and services in this area. Building on our expansion throughout British Columbia, which began with the integration of Northern BC’s North Coast Home Medical Equipment in January 2021, this acquisition demonstrates our ongoing commitment to enhancing our customer service and reach across the province.”

A-1 Wheelchairs Unlimited will become known as Motion Langley, located at 6360 202nd St., Unit 111, Langley, BC V2Y 1N2.

Motion serves clients and families in Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Saskatchewan.
