Motion Composites’ latest launch shows how small adjustments can lead to big improvements in mobility and wheelchair riders’ independence.
The inspiration for the new Vision Package, introduced in mid October, was a hack used by seating clinicians, according to Jean-Philippe Villeneuve, Motion Composites’ marketing director.
“Wheelchair users with low vision or cognitive differences, such as dementia, often face challenges in locating and operating essential components of their wheelchairs,” Villeneuve explained. “This can increase the risk of accidents and limit their independence.
“We found out that clinicians in the field had been using colored electrical tape to assist these users. We had to do something!”
The Quebec-based manufacturer developed the Vision Package, which features high-visibility orange accents. “This carefully chosen color enhances contrast, making key wheelchair parts easier to see and operate,” Villeneuve explained. “Our Vision Package aims to provide a safer and more empowering experience for a diverse range of users.”

The Vision Package is available on Motion Composites’ Helio C2, Helio A7, Helio A6, Helio Kids, and Move manual wheelchairs. The vibrant orange accent color is easy to discern in various environments, including in low light or against darker backgrounds.
The orange accents can be ordered on Newton wheel lock extensions; the footrest latch system on the Helio and Move wheelchair lines; and on caps for T-style armrests. Newton composite footplates can be ordered with orange rubber knobs to improve foot placement and to make the footplates easier to locate.
The Vision Package is now available to order; reach out to your Motion Composites rep regarding retrofitting the package to existing Motion Composites chairs.
