Motion Concepts has introduced a manual recline function for its ROVI X3/A3 power wheelchairs and for Invacare Corp.’s TDX SP2 and AVIVA FX power bases.
The new gas spring-assisted mechanism provides up to 30 degrees of recline, Motion Concepts noted in a Dec. 3 announcement.
“We’re pleased to make the manual recline an easy option for people who need a simple and effective reclining mechanism,” said Ann Quigley, Motion Concepts’ vice president of sales. “We had been providing this feature on a custom basis, but customer feedback made it clear that it’s something many can benefit from. So we decided to officially make it an available option on our order forms.”
The announcement added that operating the manual recline function is as quick and easy as gently squeezing, achieving the desired position, and releasing. The device mounts on the chair’s back cane “so that it’s right within an attendant’s grasp,” the announcement added.
“It is compatible with all Motion Concepts and Matrx seat backs and works for wheelchair users weighing up to 250 lbs. [113.398 kg],” the announcement said. “Not all wheelchair users qualify for power recline, making easy-to-use manual recline mechanisms a welcome alternative.”
