Motion has acquired North Coast Home Medical Equipment (NCHME), located in British Columbia.
In a Jan. 5 news announcement, Motion — formerly known as Motion Specialties — said the acquisition will expand the provider’s reach in Northern British Columbia, including in the Terrace, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, and Smithers areas.
NCHME was founded in 2008 by Dennis and Darlene Roth to address a lack of local access to home medical and accessibility equipment. The business began as part of the MEDIchair family, but transitioned to independent ownership in 2015.
Now it joins Motion at a time when the company is focused on growing.
Thecla Sweeney, Executive Chair/CEO of Motion, said in the announcement, “This acquisition culminated a successful 2020 for Motion, despite the many challenges posed by the pandemic. This is only the beginning of our plan for aggressive growth in the coming year.
“The expansion in British Columbia solidifies our market leadership and reiterates our commitment to offering enhanced and consistent accessibility to clients across the province. We look forward to complementing our already extensive coverage of Vancouver Island, Lower Mainland, and Southern Interior B.C. in welcoming this dedicated group of experts.”
Tracy Kinney, Motion Regional Manager-NCHME, said of the expansion, “As someone who was born and raised in Terrace, B.C., has worked for North Coast Home Medical Equipment since 2010, and has over 20 years of experience in the home medical equipment industry, I truly understand the importance and value of NCHME becoming a part of the Motion family.
“This will not only give us greater access to specialized equipment, information and training, but can help us to provide superior customer service to our existing clients, as well as build new connections to extend our reach.”
Going forward, NCHME will be known as Motion Terrace. The Motion Terrace office is located in Terrace, B.C.
