NAIMES Launches Anti-NCB Petition Drive

February 28, 2008 by Mobility Management

The National Association of Independent Medical Equipment Suppliers (NAIMES) has launched a petition drive against national competitive bidding (NCB).

The petition states, “The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) should suspend further Competitive Bidding implementation.  Congress must repeal this bad public policy and restore patient choice.”

The petition calls NCB anti-competitive and says that if NCB is implemented, Medicare beneficiaries will lose the right to choose which DME suppliers they want to do business with and will see a reduction in provider services. DME suppliers will lose business and may ultimately have to close their doors, the petition adds.

H. Wayne Sale, chairman of NAIMES, said the organization’s goal is to collect 30,000 signatures. “The very existence of the DME industry may depend on our grassroots efforts,” Sale said in announcing the petition. He urged suppliers to pass the petition along to employees, friends and families as well.
