NCART to Host CRT Briefing & Product Expo on Capitol Hill

April 14, 2016 by Laurie Watanabe

This week, members of Congress will be able to see the value of complex rehab technology (CRT) for themselves.

On Thursday, April 21, industry organizations including NCART will host a briefing on CRT that will include product demonstrations.

The theme of the event is “Ensuring Access to CRT for People with Disabilities: What Is Complex Rehab Technology? What Congressional Action Is Needed?”

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society and United Spinal Association are co-presenters of the event, which is being held in coordination with the offices of CRT supporters Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wisc.) and Rep. Joe Crowley (D-N.Y.).

The briefings in the House Cannon Building, room 340, will take place at 1 p.m., 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. Each will last 20 minutes. In the product expo, attendees will be able to interact with CRT manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, and seating & positioning products. The demonstrations will also show how CRT differs from durable medical equipment, according to a news announcement from NCART.

The NCART announcement added that consumers with disabilities, CRT clinicians and providers, and representatives from CRT manufacturers would be on hand to run the CRT demonstrations and answer attendee questions.

In NCART’s April 12 bulletin, NCART Executive Director Don Clayback asked stakeholders to invite their Congressional members to attend the briefing and expo by visiting CRTalert.org to download an invitation that includes event details, or to send a prepared invitation.
