NHIC Corp., the DME MAC Jurisdiction A, has discovered a system error that resulted in underpayments for HCPCS code E1340 claims.
E1340 is the code for “Repair or non-routine service for durable medical equipment requiring the skill of a technician, labor component, per 15 minutes.”
Affected claims are ones with dates of service between Jan. 1, 2007, and Dec. 31, 2007, that were processed before Feb. 15, 2008.
NHIC is reprocessing the claims and making adjustments, the DME MAC said in a news release. The release added, “Once complete, Remittance Advices (RA) will be issued, and the affected claims will be listed as a correction to previously processed (claims).” NHIC says suppliers do not need to take any action to correct the situation.
