The National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) is calling for nominations for five awards recognizing distinction in the field.
In a Jan. 13 announcement, NPIAP said it is accepting nominations for the following awards:
Roberta S. Abruzzese Award:
Recognizes a student with interest and promise in the field of pressure injury research, treatment and prevention or education.
Janet Cuddigan Research Award
This new award will be presented to a person or persons who have made significant contributions to the prevention and/or treatment of pressure injuries through the generation and dissemination of new research to significantly impact future clinical practice guidelines.
Kosiak Award:
Recognizing one or more people who have made significant contributions to the prevention and/or treatment of pressure injuries through their leadership in the fields of research, education and/or patient care.
JoAnn Maklebust Lifetime Achievement Award:
Created in 2013, the award is presented to an individual who has made significant contributions to the NPIAP and to preventing and treating pressure injuries.
Thomas Stewart Founder’s Award:
Honoring one or more people who have made significant contributions to the field of pressure injury prevention and treatment, particularly relating to public policy. This award reflects NPIAP’s ongoing commitment to impact public policy to improve pressure ulcer prevention, treatment, education and patient care.
The deadline for nominations is Tues., Feb. 7. Awards will be presented at the annual NPIAP conference, taking place this year in San Diego, March 17-18.
