The National Pressure Injury Advisory Panel (NPIAP) has opened registration for a pair of fall virtual events.
The first is a September symposium called, “Seated or Supine: Considerations for Patient PI Prevention Across the Healthcare Continuum,” scheduled for Sept. 22 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Eastern.
“This symposium will provide immediately actionable information for healthcare providers and caregivers that care for patients with pressure injuries across the entire care spectrum,” the event description said. Learning objectives include identifying considerations for off-loading in the seated position; understanding the impact of bed positioning on shear forces; describing the roles of occupational and physical therapy in pressure injury prevention; and describing post-operative mobility considerations related to loading of tissue.
The registration fee for this event is $75 until Sept. 18.
The second event is a free symposium entitled, “Center of Excellence on Pressure Injuries: It Is for You!” The symposium will take place Nov. 8, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern time. Target audience members include chief nursing officers, directors of nursing, directors of quality, magnet program directors, and certified wound specialists.
Learning objectives include evaluating the evidence on the clinical benefits of a center of excellence on patient outcomes; determining the potential return on investment to a health system that’s designated a center of excellence for pressure injury prevention; and identifying the structure process and outcome criteria for achieving a center of excellence for pressure injury prevention.
