NSM CEO Wins U.S. Department of Defense Award

April 7, 2021 by Laurie Watanabe

Bill Mixon, CEO of National Seating & Mobility (NSM), has won the U.S. Department of Defense’s Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve’s (ESGR) Patriot Award.

The award holds special meaning for Mixon, who served as an officer in the U.S. Army earlier in his career.

“I am honored to receive ESGR’s Patriot Award,” Mixon said in a news announcement. “As a veteran, it is of the utmost importance that NSM is committed to supporting those who serve this country. The freedom and opportunities we have are possible because of the sacrifices our service members have made in the past and make every day.”

Mixon added that his leadership philosophy, skills and approach can be directly traced back to his time as a U.S. Army officer and a helicopter pilot. The ESGR Patriot Award recognizes individuals who have supported military members and their families by providing care for families, flexible employee scheduling, time off before and after deployment, and leaves of absence when needed.

ESGR Patriot Award winners must be nominated by an employee serving in the U.S. National Guard or Reserve, or the spouse of a member of the Guard or Reserve. In 2020, the ESGR program received more than 7,500 Patriot Award nominations.

“The skills and talents of NSM team members who are service members enriches our company and strengthens our mission,” Mixon said. “I respect their dedication to serve our clients and this country.”
