NSM Debuts CRT Education Course for Nurse Case Managers

February 2, 2021 by Laurie Watanabe

National Seating & Mobility (NSM) is now offering a continuing education unit (CEU) course created specifically for Certified Nurse Case Managers (CCMs).

In a news announcement, NSM said the new course was created to teach Nurse Case Managers about Complex Rehab Technology (CRT), as well as home accessibility products.

The live course has received Pre-Approved Continuing Education (PACE) approval by the Commission for Case Manager Certification to provide continuing education credit to CCMs.

The one-hour course, “Introduction to Complex Rehab Technology & Accessibility Products for Persons with Disabilities,” teaches attendees about the differences between CRT and durable medical equipment. The class also discusses different types of seating systems, wheelchairs and components.

The course additionally reviews home and accessibility products, including accessibility modifications and services that can help to support safe and active mobility for people with disabilities.

In the announcement, NSM said it plans to create additional courses for Nurse Case Managers.

Bill Mixon, NSM’s CEO, said, “Broadening the scope of understanding about CRT and mobility solutions is key as our industry continues to strengthen its position in the overall healthcare spectrum. As the industry leader, we are committed to investing in educational programs in support of this objective.”

Cindi Petito, NSM’s Operations Manager of access and workers’ compensation, said of the new course, “Offering approved continuing education in-services and courses are part of NSM’s commitment to our payor partners, clinicians, and case managers. Continuing education is vital to advancing knowledge and skills in an ever-changing healthcare industry and enhancing new learning for the next generation of professionals. NSM is proud to join CCM as a ‘Partner in Excellence’ to help shape the future of case management.”

The course is also available to hospitals and other clinical organizations; the next live event is Feb. 11. For more information, e-mail [email protected].
