National Seating & Mobility (NSM) is preparing to become the exclusive Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) distributor of the Wandercraft Eve, a self-balancing personal exoskeleton created for use at home.
In a June 25 announcement, NSM noted that the Eve “is currently under FDA [U.S. Food & Drug Administration] regulatory review, with launch anticipated in summer 2026 pending clearance.”
Once Eve receives FDA clearance, NSM’s locations — currently numbering more than 180 offices — will “support evaluation, education, access and delivery to eligible individuals with spinal cord injuries and other severe mobility impairments. The agreement is designed to help ensure that clinicians, Assistive Technology Professionals (ATPs), payers and clients are prepared to understand Eve’s role in extending upright mobility from rehabilitation settings into the home.”
The announcement described Eve as being built “on the advanced AI-enabled robotics platform” and said the exoskeleton “adapts to users’ movements in real time, providing stable, upright mobility at home and in every day life. Eve is designed to support hands-free standing and walking with the assistance of a trained companion.”
A video of an Eve prototype in action shows its user being able to walk and to climb down steps and curbs without assistance. The wheelchair rider in the video was also able to independently put on the exoskeleton, rise to a standing position, and sit down while wearing the Eve.
The new partnership between Nashville, Tennessee-based NSM and New York-based Wandercraft includes “a shared vision for a continuum of care: from exoskeleton-assisted walking in rehabilitation to upright mobility at home,” the announcement said. “Together, the companies will promote broader awareness and adoption of Wandercraft’s technologies, including Atalante X, the self-balancing rehabilitation exoskeleton, while preparing the CRT market for future access to Eve after FDA clearance.”
Wandercraft noted that the Atalante X, its “flagship” self-balancing exoskeleton, “is used in more than 150 clinical and research settings worldwide.”
