NSM: New “Serving Safely” Initiative Prioritizes Clients’ Safety & Health

June 24, 2020 by Laurie Watanabe

A new multi-faceted commitment by National Seating & Mobility (NSM) aims to prioritize the safety and health of its clients now and into the future.

NSM launched its “Serving Safely” commitment earlier this month to coincide with National Safety Month, which focuses on preventing injuries and saving lives both inside and outside of the workplace.

In a news announcement, NSM said the new initiative focuses “on business practices prioritizing the health and safety of clients. The multi-faceted commitment incorporates additional operational guidance into rigorous protocols already in place through NSM’s accreditation by The Joint Commission.”

Bill Mixon, CEO of NSM, said in the announcement, “The safety and health of our clients and employees has always been our priority. In this time of uncertainty, it is more important than ever to reinforce our commitment so those we serve can have full confidence in the industry-leading measures we have in place to ensure their safety not only today but into the future.”

The commitment has a number of initiatives, from no contact/limited contact equipment deliveries and repair evaluations using HIPAA-compliant remote service options, to the mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) — such as gloves, masks, face shields, goggles, and gowns — for branch office employees.

NSM said work surfaces will be disinfected before and after use, as will new and used equipment being presented to clients.

Branch employees will conduct regular temperature checks, and sick employees will be asked to stay home.

Some of the new directives, such as temperature checks and use of PPE, will also apply to clients who visit NSM offices.

In addition, NSM has pledged to stay up to date on best infection control practices via “continuous education and communication.”
