Numotion Acquires Monroe Wheelchair

February 25, 2020 by Laurie Watanabe

Monroe Wheelchair, one of complex rehab technology’s most venerable providers, has been acquired by Numotion.

Monroe’s portfolio also includes extensive augmentative and alternative communications technology and services.

Mike Swinford, Numotion’s CEO, said in a news announcement, “We are excited to welcome Monroe Wheelchair to the Numotion team in order to better serve customers in New York State. Monroe’s commitment to compassionate care and their tireless efforts to dignify life through enabling independence, enhancing comfort and ensuring dreams, are perfectly in line with our mission at Numotion.”

More than 80 complex rehab and Speech Design employees from Monroe Wheelchair will transition to Numotion as part of the agreement. Monroe’s three locations in New York — Albany, Rochester, and Syracuse — will remain open, giving Numotion three more offices in the state.

Doug Westerdahl, Monroe’s President/CEO, said in the announcement, “We are thrilled to announce that Monroe Wheelchair has been acquired by Numotion. Numotion was the best choice for us, no question. Their customer-centric focus and employee-supportive organization align with our values and business principles. Numotion’s infrastructure and technology will ensure our customers have the most responsive service experience the industry has to offer. My belief is that we can improve more lives working together than we could each do alone.”
