Numotion Acquires SpinLife

July 6, 2021 by Laurie Watanabe

Numotion has acquired SpinLife, an online retailer of DME and Complex Rehab Technology (CRT) products.

In a July 1 news announcement, Numotion said the acquisition “extends customer reach with more options to people with all levels of mobility-related needs.”

SpinLife sells a wide range of DME, from scooters, lift chairs and patient lifts to consumer power chairs and beds. SpinLife’s CRT offerings include ultralightweight manual wheelchairs, wheelchair seat cushions and backrests, and power-assist systems.

SpinLife is based in Columbus, Ohio, and was founded in 1999.

Mike Swinford, Numotion’s CEO, said in the news announcement, “We are extremely excited to announce the acquisition of SpinLife. SpinLife has an outstanding reputation in the market and is known for their high-touch product expertise and white-glove customer service. Their unique and innovative retail business model and customer focus are incredible complements to our business and brings together the two market leaders in retail and third-party reimbursed products. This powerful combination enables us to expand our capabilities to better serve more customers with a broader portfolio of products and services.”

SpinLife founder and CEO Lisa Stein said of the acquisition, “With our combined scale and resources, collectively we will do things that have never been done before in this industry. Numotion’s footprint of 150-plus brick-and-mortar locations complement the ecommerce presence, National Service Network and catalog distribution of SpinLife. Together, we will drive speed to market with new products, creative ideas, and innovation that better meet our customers’ changing needs.”

In the announcement, Numotion said Stein has joined Numotion’s board of directors. SpinLife’s team, which includes ATPs, will join Numotion, and Numotion will preserve the SpinLife brand.

Pattiann McAdams will manage day-to-day operations of Numotion’s new retail division as its Senior VP and GM.

“We are thrilled to join the Numotion family,” McAdams said. “The opportunity to serve more customers, all while having a greater impact on improving accessibility and inclusion across the communities we serve, is extremely exciting, and we look forward to partnering with the Numotion teams to make this happen.”
