Numotion Foundation Funds UNCF Scholarship

September 22, 2020 by Laurie Watanabe

Numotion’s non-profit foundation is funding a scholarship in partnership with UNCF (United Negro College Fund).

The new scholarship program seeks to assist with tuition and housing costs for African-American students who have mobility-related disabilities and are pursuing a four-year college degree.

In a Sept. 4 news announcement, the Numotion Foundation said it is providing $20,000 to UNCF for the next three years to fund the scholarship.

Students must have a grade-point average of at least 2.75, and must provide UNCF a letter of recommendation and a letter about career interests to qualify for the scholarships. UNCF will award the scholarships and distribute the funds.

Numotion CEO/Numotion Foundation President Mike Swinford said in the announcement, “Everyone should have the opportunity to pursue their interests and purpose through higher education. The Foundation is honored to partner with UNCF to help relieve the financial challenges to achieving a college degree and ensure deserving students have the support they need to be successful.”

“We greatly appreciate this donation to support physically challenged college students attend the college they want to go to,” said Dr. Michael L. Lomax, UNCF President/CEO. “Gifts like this one from the Numotion Foundation move all of us forward towards better futures for us all, and we thank the Foundation for investing in deserving, talented students who will help pay it forward for others.”
