Permobil has acquired Comfort Company, manufacturer/distributor of a wide range of seating and positioning products.
Comfort Company now joins Permobil’s Seating and Positioning portfolio, which includes the ROHO brand name. Permobil acquired ROHO in 2015.
Permobil Seating and Positioning President Tom Borcherding said in an Oct. 9 announcement, “The acquisition of Comfort Company further strengthens Permobil’s position within both the complex rehab and long-term care markets. We see tremendous synergies with the addition of Comfort Company’s portfolio together with Permobil’s ROHO Seating and Positioning solutions. With this acquisition, Permobil will now establish a dedicated and clinically focused commercial team in the U.S. to ensure growth in the complex rehab and long-term care markets.”
Permobil announced in January that it had acquired Prairie Seating, manufacturer of custom-molded seating products. The company said acquiring Comfort Company “will further extend the suite of Permobil for Permobil Seating and Positioning solutions. From tissue injury prevention to cushions and back supports, Permobil now provides a wide array of products and solutions.”
In a video announcement of the acquisition, Borcherding said Comfort Company has “amazing products,” and added that adding those products to Permobil’s existing seating technology will “allow us to have the best portfolio of products in the world.”
Eric Murphy, president of Comfort Company, said of the acquisition, “Comfort Company has always had a strong focus and passion for the customer across the pediatric, geriatric and bariatric segments. Permobil shares our vision of providing the highest level of quality and service, and we are excited to become part of the Permobil family.”
Comfort Company is headquartered in Bozeman, Mont., and has manufacturing facilities in New Berlin, Wisc.
