Permobil has introduced its latest additions to its TiLite family of ultralightweight titanium wheelchairs.

TiLite TR
In a March 16 news announcement, Permobil debuted the TiLite TR (dual-tube) and TiLite ZR (monotube) chairs, calling them “a purposeful evolution” with updated designs that “bring refined aesthetics, lighter components and enhanced adjustability — elevating performance, simplifying daily use, and delivering a ride that inspires lasting confidence.”
Permobil said both series “will continue to be fully handmade with redesigned machined caster bullets, slimmer fork caps, and streamlined CoG [center of gravity] systems. These updates will create a modern, cleaner aesthetic for the TR and ZR series. Weight‑saving improvements across the frame make the chairs easier to propel and transport and optimized center‑of‑gravity adjustability enables precise, responsive tuning.”
Both series will be offered in fixed-frame (TR/ZR) and adjustable (TRA/ZRA) styles.
The TR has improvements that reduce weight by 13% and features center of gravity adjustment. The new TR also has redesigned bumpers to safeguard the frame and an updated backrest bracket.
The TRA is “a more adjustable option for those who want fine-tuned positioning,” the announcement said. The chair offers adjustable center-of-gravity, backrest and seating angle in a dual-tube design for better weight distribution and frame stiffness. The caster fork angle is also adjustable.

TiLite ZR
The fixed-frame ZR offers weight savings of 6% compared to previous offerings, with enhanced center-of-gravity adjustability, redesigned bumpers, and an updated backrest bracket that “maintains stability while preserving full adjustability.”
The fully adjustable ZRA has a fully adjustable frame for a customized fit, adjustable caster fork and seating angle for comfort and performance, and an adjustable center of gravity. Optional ergo seating is available.
“As a manual wheelchair user myself, I know how much wear and tear extra weight can put on someone’s shoulders, and I wanted to save the user energy where I could,” said Doug Garven, Permobil’s principal product manager. “When we were designing the new iteration of the TR and ZR, we were always thinking about ways to cut weight and make the geometry as compact as possible. I feel confident that we’ve achieved that.”
“The next evolution of our titanium lineup reflects our commitment to continuous innovation and premium craftsmanship,” said Todd Walling, president of Permobil Americas. “By reducing weight and enhancing agility and durability, we’re delivering the performance and dependability that users count on every day.”
