TiLite Z
Permobil has launched two TiLite ultralightweight wheelchair models, both aluminum framed.
In an Oct. 15 press release, Permobil said the folding-frame TiLite X and rigid-frame TiLite Z feature “best-in-class performance, over 1 billion possible configurations, and five-day lead times.”
Permobil also launched the Permobil Store, a web-based system “that allows customers to configure, quote and order the TiLite X and Z, as well as a real-time visualizer to see how each selection impacts the final look, dimensions, price and lead time of the products.
“The Permobil Store automatically guides the customer through the configuration process and has more features that help make the chair-ordering process more efficient for providers.”
Preserving TiLite’s history of customizability

TiLite X
The TiLite brand is celebrating its silver anniversary in 2024, and Permobil indicated that preserving TiLite’s reputation for achieving a custom fit for each wheelchair rider was critical to the creation of the new X and Z.
“Our goal with the TiLite X and Z was to deliver the quality, performance, durability and customizability of TiLite chairs to as many people as possible,” said Cody Verrett, VP and general manager of Permobil Americas. “We are proud to say we have delivered on that and are excited to expand TiLite to more users.”
Permobil said both new chairs have “have built-in adjustability for seat-to-floor height, camber, seat-to-footrest height, backrest angle, center of gravity and more, as needed.”
The X has a single-piece side frame and a redesigned cross brace for improved durability and strength. The Z features a new rigid monotube frame. The TiLite X has a transport weight of 12.1 lbs. (5.48 kg); the TiLite Z’s transport weight is 11.3 lbs. (5.12 kg).
Performance features for both chairs include composite soft-roll casters; adjustable tension by strap seat and back upholstery; and aluminum push/pull wheel locks — all standard. The chairs also feature a new two-point T-style armrest “which allows for easy adjustability and can be set up as flip back or removable configurations.”
TiLite has introduced new colors, selected by wheelchair riders, for the new chairs: black galaxy, silver streak, blue mist, lavender dusk, pomegranate red, and indigo purple.
New manufacturing technology and new manufacturing processes give the X and Z chairs “TiLite’s fastest turnaround time, from order to delivery, while also maintaining the unrivaled durability and customizability TiLite manual wheelchairs are known for.”
“We have taken everything you know and love about our TiLite products and made them even better,” said Chuck Witkowski, president of Permobil Americas. “With a tremendous focus on end-user and customer insights, we have improved functionality, simplicity, weight, weight capacity and lead times – all while keeping our industry-best configurability and durability. I couldn’t be prouder of what our team has accomplished.”
The TiLite X and Z are available for ordering in the United States on Oct. 16 and in Canada starting on Oct. 30.
