Quantum’s new 4×4 power wheelchair was designed to take on the wild and wonderful outdoors.
In an Oct. 15 press release, Quantum introduced the Outback all-terrain power chair, developed in collaboration with the manufacturer’s Australian subsidiary.
“Crafted for those who dare to defy conventional limits, this rugged 4-wheel independent motor mobility solution promises to expand your outdoor driving experience, whether you’re navigating wooded trails or exploring uncharted terrain,” the announcement said.
Built for ‘Advanced outdoor rehab power’
The Quantum Outback can be outfitted with a Q-Captain seat, or with TRU-Balance 3 powered seating, including up to 10 inches of optional seat elevation. Smooth Ride Suspension (SRS) provides stability and increased sitting tolerance and ride comfort, even when driving over uneven terrain. The Outback comes standard with a Q-Logic 3e controller, a full lighting package, and 15-inch pneumatic tires.
The power chair’s top speed is 5 mph standard; Quantum also offers an optional 6-mph package. The Outback also can be driven up to 3.2 mph while elevated.
The weight capacity for an Outback with a Q-Captain is 350 lbs. With TRU-Balance 3 seating — power tilt or power lift and tilt — the weight capacity is 300 lbs.
Seat widths for Q-Captain seat Outbacks are 16, 18, 20, and 22 inches; seat depths are 16, 18, 20, and 22 inches. For Outback power chairs with TRU-Balance 3 seating, widths are 16-22 inches; depths are also 16-22 inches. Seat-to-floor heights start at 19.5 inches for Q-Captain seat Outbacks and for Outbacks with TRU-Balance 3 lift and tilt seating. For Outbacks with TRU-Balance 3 tilt, seat-to-floor heights start at 19 inches.
At launch, the power chair is available in camo black, camo desert, camo white, matte cadet, and matte tan. Additional colors — including camo tropic lightning and camo jungle — are upcoming.
The Quantum Outback is a K0899 power mobility device not coded by DME PDAC.
