2017 Accessibility Comparo

Nov 01, 2017

Compare & Contrast Technology Designed to Optimize Inclusion

Our annual Accessibility Comparo takes a closer look at technology categories that facilitate consumer participation and inclusion in different environments and activities. For this story, we invited manufacturers of bath hygiene systems, pool lifts and ramps to self-report specifications and sizing for their products.

Measurements in this comparo are reported in inches and/or feet, as appropriate. Weights are listed in pounds (lbs.). In many cases, products have ranges of measurements, such as weight capacities. Options may be included in standard pricing or available as up-charges.

Data was edited for space, and additional options, accessories, sizes, etc., are often available. Custom sizes may also be available. “ADA” is an abbreviation for requirements and standards associated with the Americans with Disabilities Act. "IBC" is an abbreviation for International Building Code. “N/A” is listed if a category doesn’t apply or if no information was submitted.

These comparisons are intended to be introductory resources for mobility and accessibility professionals seeking to compare similar products within a certain category. For more information, please contact the manufacturers as listed in the Resources section within this story.
