The Rehabilitation Engineering & Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA) is seeking public comments on a new white paper draft that defines the roles and responsibilities of rehabilitation professionals.
The deadline to comment is July 29.
The organization’s Rehabilitation Engineer and Technologist Professional Specialty Group is looking for comments on descriptions for rehabilitation engineers, rehabilitation technologists and rehabilitation technicians.
In addition to defining the roles of various rehab professionals, the paper discusses the definition of rehabilitation engineering itself and its role in the lives of people with disabilities. Topics explored in the paper include employment opportunities for rehab professionals, how those professionals are involved in research, education and training, and how professionals work in different environments, such as with school districts, in rehabilitation settings, or in independent living centers.
