RESNA’s ATP Program Receives Re-Accreditation

February 26, 2016 by Laurie Watanabe

RESNA’s Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) certification program has been re-accredited for five years by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA).

This is the first time the ATP program has been up for re-certification after being initially certified in 2010.

In a news announcement, RESNA noted that more than 3,800 professionals thus far have qualified as ATPs.

“The renewal of this important accreditation means that RESNA’s ATP certification delivers value to both practitioners and consumers,” said Daniel Cochrane, MA, MS, ATP, chair of RESNA’s Professional Standards Board. “From the rigorous process we use to develop the exam, to the procedures we use to ensure compliance with our ethical standards, ATP certification meets the NCCA’s quality standards. RESNA is proud to provide the only accredited professional certification in the interdisciplinary field of assistive technology.”

The re-accreditation is in place till 2020. For more information on ATP certification, visit RESNA’s Web site.
