The company whose technology brought you the stair-climbing iBOT power wheelchair is back with a two-wheeled concept vehicle called the S-Pod.
Segway’s Web site describes it as a “self-balancing vehicle that is operated by an intuitive assistive navigation panel.” The manufacturer promises “zero difficulty to learn,” though a journalist test-driving the S-Pod at CES last year did manage to crash it. Segway lists a 24.8-mph top speed and a weight capacity of 330 lbs., and the manufacturer imagines the S-Pod thriving on “enclosed campuses,” such as airports and theme parks.
