The 2023 Virtual CRT Congressional Fly-In, co-hosted by NCART and NRRTS, is coming up quickly.
In an Aug. 25 announcement and update, NCART and NRRTS said, “We have learned over the years that Congress can be an indispensable ally in protecting access to Complex Rehab Technology (CRT). However, without constituents uniting to share their personal perspectives, talk about challenges, and ask for the solutions needed, Congress won’t know that action is required. Educating them about the importance of appropriate CRT access is a message that needs to be delivered directly by CRT users, clinicians, caregivers, family members, suppliers, manufacturers, and others.”
Leading up to the Sept. 13 Fly-In, NCART and NRRTS will host a Wed., Sept. 6, Prep Webinar (7 to 8 p.m. Eastern) to cover “schedules, virtual platforms and talking points” for the Fly-In.
On Mon., Sept. 11, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern time, a state delegation practice will give attendees the opportunity to meet with fellow participants, learn the virtual platform to be used for the Fly-In, and discuss how they’ll organize their meetings.
After the Fly-In, a Congressional Debriefing will take place from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern that evening. The Fly-In takes place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Eastern.
When participants register for the event, they’ll be sent a link to the Mandatory Prep Webinar. Links for practice meetings, Congressional meetings, and the debriefing will be provided in the attendee portal of the virtual platform.
When participants register for the Fly-In, they will provide their home and work addresses so NCART and NRRTS’s event partner can schedule the Congressional appointments for Sept. 13. Congressional office contacts and meeting times will be e-mailed to participants the week before the Fly-In.
Registration and participation in the Fly-In and the supporting events are free thanks to industry sponsors.
The four key “asks” for the Fly-In are to better understand the unique nature of Complex Rehab Technology (CRT); to support policies and legislation that protect and enhance access to CRT; to support ongoing action to establish Medicare coverage of power seat elevation and power standing; and to address the rising costs of providing CRT.
