Splish-Splash: ATG Rehab & Connecticut Children’s Medical Center Host Wheelchair Wash

October 24, 2012 by Laurie Watanabe

Being an active kid is hard work – and all that high energy can be tough on wheelchairs, too. The second annual Wheelchair Wash & Service Check, hosted by ATG Rehab and Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, aimed to ensure that seating & mobility systems stay in tip-top shape for their young owners.

The event took place Sept. 29 at ATG’s national headquarters in Rocky Hill, Conn., with ATG’s ATPs and Connecticut Children’s rehab specialists participating.

Kids and their families munched donuts and participated in activities ranging from face painting to drawing to crafts, as assistive technology professionals gave wheelchairs expert (and complimentary) inspections, cleanings and service.

ATG’s Toby Bergantino, ATP, CRTS, said in a news announcement, “We are delighted to be working with Connecticut Children’s rehab specialists to offer these wheelchair service events, which provide essential maintenance and safety checks for young people in our area who rely on mobility devices.”
