Sunrise Celebrates 25th Anniversary by Giving Back

July 1, 2008 by Mobility Management

Sunrise Medical is celebrating a milestone anniversary by encouraging its employees to volunteer in their local communities: one hour for each year of the mobility manufacturer’s existence.

“We are formally challenging our associates to impact our communities through 25 hours of volunteer activities,” said Sunrise Chairman/CEO Michael N. Cannizzaro. “For North America alone, this represents over 25,000 hours of volunteer work, or almost three years’ worth of time.”

Sunrise associates in Fresno, Calif., volunteered to entertain 800 special education students in Fresno County at Pelco Kids Day in April. Other Sunrise employees are participating in fund-raisers such as a 5K “Walk for Dreams” in Indiana, or are serving at children’s hospitals and Special Olympics events.

“Sunrise Medical’s mission is to ‘Improve People’s Lives,’ and this is what we plan to do to celebrate our anniversary,” Cannizzaro said. “Our employees and products positively impact so many people’s lives; however, there is more we can do.”
