The new palette launched May 12; discontinued colors will continue to be available for spare parts for five years.

Lettering at the top says STYLE YOUR RIDE.Sunrise Medical has updated its color choices for QUICKIE adult manual wheelchairs, ZIPPIE pediatric manual wheelchairs, and JAY backs.

The new palette will be available across the manufacturer’s North American, European, and Asia-Pacific markets, Sunrise Medical said in a May 12 announcement.

In introducing the set of 24 color/pattern options, the company said it is “setting a new bar for self expression” and referenced QUICKIE founder Marilyn Hamilton. “When she asked for a purple wheelchair and was told it wasn’t an option, she made it one, introducing color choice to what had always been a purely clinical device,” the announcement said. “Today, Sunrise Medical carries that spirit forward with a fresh, thoughtfully curated palette that provides not just variety, but meaningful choices.”

The colors now available include midnight blue, mystic purple, turbo green, pink power, solar orange, scarlet noir, velocity yellow, metallic shadow, silver ore, and starlight white. Patterns include zebra, desert camo, mossy oak camo, and Stars N Stripes.

Sunrise Medical added that the process behind the new color choices is smart and sustainable.

“Extensive research went into defining colors that are both on trend and timeless — ensuring long-lasting appeal that resonates across styles and seasons,” the company said. “Each color was also selected not only for its visual impact, but also for its ability to reduce the environmental footprint. By minimizing the need for double-layer powder coatings, the palette helps decrease energy use, streamline production, and reduce material waste.”

Colors that were discontinued to make way for the new lineup will continue to be available for spare parts for five years after the new colors’ May 12, 2025, launch. Sunrise’s color selector tool is available online for selected products to help wheelchair riders more accurately envision what their color choices and color combinations will look like.
