“Urban mobility just got smarter and sleeker,” the manufacturer said in an April 28 announcement. “Designed for everyday independence, the F35 blends modern styling with practical power to help riders navigate city streets, run errands, or explore with ease.”

Sunrise Medical described the Empulse F35 as easy to transport and store when it’s not being used. The system features “an all-in-one, ultra-slim frame and foldable handle — roughly the length of a golf umbrella.”

The Empulse F35 weighs 19.8 lbs. and has a transport weight of 16.5 lbs., “making it about 30% lighter than traditional power pull devices,” Sunrise Medical noted.

Its one-motion docking process connects or disconnects the device from the wheelchair in seconds to facilitate quick transitions. To ease transfers, wheelchair riders can remove the entire system by using the frame clamps that come with the Empulse F35.

Sunrise Medical noted that the F35 is also ready to fly: “Its IATA-compliant battery remains installed during flights, with only a simple fuse removal required to meet airline regulations.”

The system has a range of up to 9.3 miles on a full charge “and includes an intelligent battery management system paired with a 4Ah battery for consistent, efficient performance.” The Empulse F35 has three speed modes: slow (3.7 mph), standard (6.2 mph), and fast (up to 9.3 mph).

“With the launch of the F35, the Empulse family now includes three distinct power-assist solutions tailored to different rider needs,” said Parker Landry-Murphy, Sunrise Medical’s associate product manager, power assist. “The F35 is a sleek, compact pull device ideal for independent users navigating urban terrain. The R90 provides discreet rear-mounted power that maintains the size and maneuverability of your wheelchair, with push-button propelling from an easy-to-use control box. The R20 is designed to support caregivers with push assist for reduced strain during daily mobility.”
