Resized size 1 frame better accommodates very young children.

Little explorers have a new way to move through the world.

In an Oct. 10 news announcement, Sunrise Medical introduced the Leckey MyWay+ gait trainer, an open-framed device that “cleverly supports children in an upright position, improving stepping and maximizing opportunities for exploration, interaction, and participation.”

The MyWay+ features a “bespoke” frame, a wrap-around hoistable harness, plus a long list of accessories to make sure the gait trainer “can be tailored to meet every need and ability.” The harness provides 360 degrees of support for core stability and encourages an upright posture to improve stepping, head control, and trunk control. The harness also leaves the child’s hands free to participate in other activities.

Noting the importance of early mobility on a child’s development, Sunrise Medical added, “We have resized our size 1 frame to better accommodate younger children’s body proportions and given them the best opportunity to develop their physical, cognitive, and social skills right from the get-go.”

The gait trainer’s features include indoor-outdoor wheels that can navigate a multitude of terrains. The wheels have side-step technology and come standard with anti-roll-back, direction lock, and variable resistance capabilities.

MyWay+ gait trainers in size 2 and size 3 fold for easy transport. Options include a standard headrest, a complex headrest, hoist straps, adult handles, standard user handles, complex user handles, ankle guides, a saddle, and a saddle drop.

The new gait trainer is available in three sizes (1 through 3) and six harness sizes, designed to accommodate kids from age 1 well into their late teens, and from 23 inches tall to 59 inches tall. The weight capacity for the MyWay+ is 176 lbs. for the largest size of frame and harness.
