Sunrise Medical has added to its all-terrain power wheelchair lineup.
In an April 7 news announcement, the manufacturer introduced the Magic Mobility XT4, “a cutting-edge 4×4 power wheelchair engineered for riders who refuse to be limited by rough terrain.”
The XT4 features all-wheel suspension, servo-powered steering, and four high-torque 700W motors for “unmatched off-road performance, allowing riders to explore with confidence and control” in a range of terrains, including sand, snow, mud, and uneven ground.
An all-wheel suspension keeps all four knobby tires on the ground even at higher speeds for optimal traction, and the low-pressure, high-traction tires are designed to minimize their impact on the trails and environments they travel. “Servo-powered steering ensures precise control in both forward and reverse, eliminating the need for a steering lock,” Sunrise Medical added.
“The XT4 offers a new level of freedom for off-road riders,” said Jeff Rogers, Sunrise Medical’s director of product management for power. “It builds on the legacy of the Magic Mobility X8 — already known as the most powerful off-road 4WD chair — while incorporating years of rider feedback for better range, control and transportability.”
The new power chair is 27.5 inches wide and 39 inches long, with a 55.5-inch turning radius. Seat widths are available from 13 to 23 inches, and seat depths from 13 to 24 inches. The XT4 is available with seat-to-floor heights of 19, 20, and 21 inches. It has a maximum range of 19 miles per charge, and a top speed of 6.2 mph, or 3.1 mph while at full seat elevation.
The standard weight capacity is 400 lbs.; with seat elevation or tilt, the weight capacity is 350 lbs. JAY cushions and backs and Whitmyer head supports are available for the XT4 for additional positioning needs.
